Good Morning, America! The Prostate Cancer Pony Express is Rolling

Meet the Pony Express Along the Road
Good morning everyone. Just a reminded that the Prostate Cancer Pony Express will be rolling into Sacramento today.

It’s 5:53 am in California, so our guys should be rolling any time. You can follow them live on the Internet @ http://bit.ly/ProstateCancerPonyExpressLive

We’re riding to reduce the annual 34,000 man death toll from prostate cancer by raising awareness, raising funds for free PSA testing, and to provide a free Internet PSA tracking service to make prostate cancer visible.

How You Can Support Our Efforts
$25 will provide a prostate cancer detection test to a man with no insurance. Register as a Prostate Cancer Pony Express rider (you don’t actually need to ride) and you’ve sponsored one man’s test:

Have You or Your Family been Touched by Prostate Cancer?
Did you know that there are more new cases of prostate cancer each year than breast cancer? Put a name of a prostate cancer survivor or victim in our memorial journal. We will use these names to show that prostate cancer is a real epidemic, and not just something that gets a bit of news coverage once in a while.

Prostate Cancer Victim Memorial Service at Shenandoah Harley-Davidson

Many people are stepping up to support this year’s Prostate Cancer Pony Express.

Shendandoah Harley-Davidson is working with us to create an event on May 25th as part of our ride from Richmond. Virginia to Washington, DC.

We will have a bank, food vendors, a raffle for a fabulous bronze Pony Express statue and other items.

The ceremony will include a memorial service for our fallen comrades in arms and for the 1.3 million men who have lost their lives to prostate cancer since 1971.

Even if you can’t make the ride to Washington, DC, join us for an hour or two at Shenandoah HD. I’d love to meet you.

Day 24 – On the Left Coast, Getting Ready to Roll East

Well, Saturday, April 7th witnessed the first crossing of the United States by the Prostate Cancer Pony Express.

Congresswoman Janice Hahn, Michelle Chambers, Robert Warren Hess, Douglas Garrett

In just over three weeks, our riders brought the dispatch bag and memorial journal from Daytona, Florida to San Diego, California, stopping at governor’s offices along the way.

So far, our riders have collected two new state prostate cancer awareness proclamations, Louisiana, Arizona, and a third may be in the offing in Sante Fe, New Mexico.

I picked up the dispatch bag on Easter Sunday in San Diego and brought it to Los Angeles yesterday. This afternoon it goes to our rider in San Francisco who will head East.
