Here are the steps to follow to become a leg lead rider:
1. Visit http://bit.ly/2012ProstateCancerPonyExpressRiderRegistration and register to be a rider. Your registration includes the necessary waiver and gives you a lifelong Prostate Cancer Pony Express rider number.
2. Visit our forum at http://prostatecancerponyexpress.websitetoolbox.com, create an account, login and review the information on the legs before and after the segment you plan to ride.
3. Decide if you would like to be a Lead Rider for that leg. There are just a few responsibilities:
- coordinate with incoming and outgoing Lead Riders to receive and pass on the dispatch bag and memorial journal
- post your route on the Rider Forum
- arrive at the transfer point at a designated time and place – this could be your state capitol building or another location, taking photos of the dispatch bag transfer and posting them to the Prostate Cancer Pony Express Facebook page (you will receive a detailed checklist)
- post a picture of the dispatch transfer to Facebook (or send us the photo and we’ll post it)
- Sign and return an American Motorcyclist Association insurance waiver form
Dan Jester, PCAP Prostate Cancer Pony Express Rider Number 39, is the national ride coordinator.
The current ride route is posted on the PCAP Prostate Cancer Pony Express Relay Ride forum http://bit.ly/2012ProstateCancerPonyExpressRiderCoordinationForum.
